The 1986 action film depicts Maverick's progress through the training, his romance with a female instructor, and overcoming a crisis of confidence following a fatal training accident, in which Goose is killed. Although Maverick loses his confidence and aggressivness when flying, he graduates from Top Gun, and is quickly called into action. Upon returning triumphantly from the mission, Maverick is offered any assignment he chooses, and decides to be a Top Gun instructor.
This huge phenomenon was the highest grossing film on 1986, with the advanced demand such that the film became the best-selling video in the industry's history on pre-orders alone.
